Scalextric Scalextric is an electric model car racing game. A model Scalextric racing car has an electric motor fitted on to its chassis. The chassis is also fitted with a guide blade which rests in the slot of the track system. A hand controller is used to control the amount of power delivered from the power supply (approx 12v) through the metal track rails to the motor in the racing car. The electric motor then, through a set of gears, rotates the driven axle & wheels and moves forward. The first half-century. Traditional Scalextric has stood the test of time as being one of those games which many children and adults just want to 'Have a go'! The excitement, the spills and thrills! The standard system allows one or more cars to race on the track. Scalextric offers a system where each car has its own lane on the track - one car per lane - and each car is controlled independently by each driver. The new era of Digital: Being careful to maintain the simplicity of model car racing, in 2004 a new system, Digital, was introduced whereby up to 6 cars can race on the same lane and move from lane to lane as dictated by the driver. This gives a greater level of realism as not only can the driver change lanes at will but the opportunities to use pit stops for refuelling, digital lap counters and other accessories and so enhance the over-all game play strategy. The majority of traditional Scalextric products are still compatible with the new Digital system. The only difference being that a digital power base, controllers and cars are required. Non-digital cars can be converted in to digital cars. Which ever system you choose, you will have fun, fun, fun! |
